What ISO 9001:2015 Certification Means Going Forward
In November, we announced that we are now an ISO 9001 accredited company to the new, 2015 standard. We’re extremely proud to be one of the first security firms to adopt the new standard, and our general manager, Peter Hale, recently talked to Professional Security magazine to discuss what it means for Omni Security Services going forward.
What Is the ISO 9001 Standard?
The ISO 9001:2015 standard is a framework that lays out the groundwork for a quality management system in a company. Towards the end of last year, we addressed this in greater detail – you can read more about it here.
A Comprehensive Service
Although the certificates look pretty in a frame, Peter is clear to point out that Omni haven’t strived to be 9001:2015 certified for interior decorating purposes! In fact, 9001 is the best way for Omni to refine our services, facilitating improvements that help us guard more effectively and thereby satisfy our customers. It is through Omni’s constant efforts to refine our services that we achieve our goal of being ‘best in class’.
Assured Value for Money
Peter made a point of addressing the problem of overselling in security, too. He stated that Omni won’t price-match other security firms, as it would be unethical to offer a race to the bottom in price because you would simultaneously need to compromise on the quality of service available. To continue to deliver to the high standards of 9001, price-matching cannot occur. Clients who use Omni’s services, therefore, can rest assured that they’re receiving the services that are the best value for money.
Full Accreditation – ACS and 9001!
A high ACS score is a great thing to have, and Omni Security has a respectably high one at that, but it isn’t everything. Peter discussed, at length, where we stand as a company in this matter. Because ACS scoring is concentrated, with marks awarded by auditors to some firms whose practices may not be consistently monitored thereafter, standards can slip between assessments.
Peter says that there is no real incentive for ACS firms to go above and beyond their score, with many firms seeing the ACS certificate as the endgame. Omni do not accept this view, which is why we have been keen to transition to the new ISO 9001:2015 standard as quickly as possible. ISO 9001:2015 ensures that our ‘best in class’ services that garner excellent ACS scores are maintained, year round.
